About Bamford Orthodontics

Our office

We have a purpose-built dental and orthodontic practice with modern facilities and 10 dental surgeries. All surgeries are fitted with the latest dental equipment, technology and materials to serve our patients. While our original location was on Bury Road, we have been extending on our current site since 1984 to modernise the practice, add further surgeries and enhance the services we can offer our patients.

Bamford Dental Practice is a large multi-disciplinary practice employing 38 dedicated members of staff. Below, we have featured our staff specialising in our orthodontic offerings.

Maria Mcnally

Maria
Mcnally

GDC No. 71160

Maria studied dentistry at the University of London and qualified in 1995. She joined Bamford Dental Practice in April 2016 and is a Consultant and Specialist in Orthodontics who became a Practice Principal the following year.

Maria completed her specialist and consultant training in Birmingham, winning National and European awards along the way.

She has won the Aesthetic Dentistry Award for the best interdisciplinary case for two consecutive years (2014 and 2015).

Maria enjoys treating children and adults and provides a full range of treatment options, including aesthetic braces such as Invisalign and lingual appliances such as Incognito. This is in addition to the more conventional ceramic and metal brackets. Maria’s other clinical interests include orthognathic surgery (surgery to correct jaw discrepancies) and the use of temporary anchorage devices (miniscrews).

Maria is actively involved in research and is currently undertaking a clinical trial in South Manchester. Maria lectures and trains orthodontists to become specialists and consultants.

Maria is a member of the British Orthodontic Society, British Lingual Orthodontic Society and is currently on the British Orthodontic Society Research and Development Committee.

When not working, Maria enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, running, yoga, tennis and umpiring lacrosse matches.

Nick Hall

Nick Hall

Practice Principal and Orthodontist
GDC No. 60598

Nick is a Practice Principal and Orthodontist. He qualified from Birmingham University in 1985 and joined Bamford Dental Practice the following year as a General Dentist. Nick became a Practice Principal in 1991.

From 1996 Nick has worked exclusively in orthodontics, treating approximately 300 patients per year for their orthodontic needs.

For children and young adults up to 18, Nick is able to provide orthodontic treatment both privately and on the NHS. For adults over 18, he provides orthodontic treatment on a private basis.

He received his Diploma in Primary Care Orthodontics in 2010 and is an accredited “Invisalign” Practitioner.

Nick is a member of the British Orthodontic Society and The British Dental Association and sits on the Local Dental Committee. He is also a member of the Greater Manchester Managed Clinical Network.

He has three grown up children and in his spare time enjoys cycling, gardening, looking after his chickens and spending time at his holiday home in Spain.

Lucy Taylor

Lucy Taylor

Orthodontic Hygienist and Therapist

Lucy is an Orthodontic Hygienist and Therapist and joined Bamford Dental Practice in 2017. She attended Manchester University and successfully achieved a BSc (Honours) Degree in Oral Health Sciences in 2004.

Lucy also gained a Diploma in Dental Hygiene (EDH) and Diploma in Dental Therapy (EDT), both in 2004, together with a Diploma in Orthodontic Therapy from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2009.

Lucy most enjoys helping to create beautiful smiles for our appreciative patients by fitting and adjusting orthodontic braces, ensuring excellent oral health is maintained throughout treatment.

Outside of work Lucy owns two horses and competes most weekends in dressage events. She has been selected to represent England and the North West for the past four years.
